#ONTREND These are the Rhode Island restaurants you’ll want to saturate your friends’ newsfeeds with pictures of — and they’ll thank you for it! A variety of snacks and starters from Huck’s Filling Station. HUCK’S FILLING STATION Location: Warwick Aesthetic: Making use of an old gas station structure (yes, you read that right), Huck’s now fills stomachs instead of cars. A garage door connects the stylish monochromatic interior to an outdoor patio complete with bistro lights and fire pits. Menu: A well-seasoned (hah) traveler and cook, Huck’s chef, Todd Champ, specializes in preparing globally inspired local bounty (think: gardener’s pie, pork roulade or kale Caesar). And don’t miss out on the dollar oysters every day from 4 to 6 p.m.! Worth noting: You can get your fill of specialty drinks — crafted especially to complement the menu — here, too. BOL Location: Wakefield Aesthetic: A soothing atmosphere enhanced by exposed brick walls, letter board menus, the glow of pendant lighting and an abundance of hanging plants. Menu: As suggested by the cafe’s name, all of the vegan offerings — which contain no sugar, no gluten and are chock full of plants — come in a bowl (or you can dupe it for a smoothie, if you prefer). Try the Violet concoction, made up of acai, strawberries, banana, blueberries, peanut butter and almond butter topped with blueberries, banana, granola and toasted coconut. Worth noting: Hooray for girl power; the company is entirely owned- and-operated by two sisters. THE ROYAL BOBCAT Location: Providence Aesthetic: Picture a jazzy New Orleans bar from the 1920s. The space is lined with funky decor as well as blue and gold trimmings fit for royalty while live music acts often complete the beguiling ambience. 16    YOUR ULTIMATE SUMMER GUIDE 2020 Menu: The Bobcat’s Hanju kitchen serves up a number of Korean-Cajun flavors including Tonkotsu ramen, kimchi jambalaya, boudin balls and shrimp po-boys. As for the booze, we recommend a good ol’ old fashioned or a a glass of La Patience rosé. BUTTERBANG Location: On the move, peddling and setting up shop throughout various parts of Providence (pro tip: keep up with @butterbangcroissants on Instagram). Aesthetic: Founder, owner and baker Brian Leosz puts it best: Butterbang is a “croissant street circus.” Still, we also like to think of it as a contemporary take on a Parisian bike cart. Menu: Delicious croissants baked fresh with ingredients sourced from Rhode Island and across New England. Go for the Choco Almond Creame or the Dainty Pig (topped o≠ with prosciutto, gouda and rosemary) and pair it with a cup of Borealis Coffee or some homemade spicy chai. Worth noting: Leosz’s delicacies can also be found at the Croissant Counter in Providence most Saturday mornings or at different indoor pop up events. CEREMONY Location: Providence Aesthetic: A modern tea house with white walls, lots of natural light and a simple, relaxing vibe. Menu: Ceremony works with single estate farms and producers across Asia to provide ecologically sustainable products for traditional tea ceremonies. Each session serves up to three people and consists of three double steeps in chai hai to be enjoyed in sip cups. Ceremony also offers hand-crafted cocktails, on-draft kombucha and nitro coffee selections along with yummy eats like pineapple pastries, creamy cheese breads and mille crepe cakes. Don’t Miss!
