GREATER RICHMOND SCHOOL OF MUSIC: CHORAL ODYSSEY In this melodic camp, boys and girls will learn basic music theory and ear training as it relates to singing, work as a group on warm-ups and sight-reading, learn songs across a variety of genres, and provide a group choral performance on the final day. Level: Mixed Ability Instructor: Greater Richmond School of Music staff Grades: 2 – 6 Date/Time: July 15 – 19; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: $210 GREATER RICHMOND SCHOOL OF MUSIC: GUITAR PRO Play like a pro with your peers and become a guitar champ! Campers will learn key concepts of the fundamentals of music, rhythm, and performance. Students will also be able to experiment with different types of guitars, electric guitar effects, and other gear that is key to live performance. Other topics covered include listening, accompaniment, music theory, and improvisation. Level: Intermediate to Advanced Instructor: Greater Richmond School of Music staff Grades: 6 – 12 Date/Time: July 8 – July 12; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: $210 28 | GRADES 6-8 GREATER RICHMOND SCHOOL OF MUSIC: SUMMER STRING THING Learn to perform better with a full ensemble and in small groups – classical, rock, and pop music. Work on music theory, the history of rock and roll, keyboard, sight-reading, scales for auditions, improvisation, and sectionals. There will be a performance on the final day. This session is for students with at least one year of experience on violin, viola, cello, or upright bass. Students will need to bring their own instruments. Level: Intermediate to Advanced Instructor: Greater Richmond School of Music staff Grades: 6 – 12 Date/Time: June 24 – 28; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: $210 PRINTMAKERS’ DELIGHT In this class, students will join Steward visual arts teacher Sejal Vaywala to explore the exciting art of printmaking. They will focus on processes such as monotypes, screen-printing, linoleum carving, gelli printing, etching and collagraphs to print in multiples to complete several unique projects. At the end, students will leave the camp with various masterpieces on paper, fabrics, wood, and plexiglass, and a whole new set of skills in this wonderful art form.
