EDIBLE EDUCATION: EDIBLE ESSENTIALS EDIBLE EDUCATION: OPEN A BAKERY If you are a beginner chef, this is the camp for you! The Edible Education chefs will take you through the basics of cooking starting with the number one chef item: eggs. Campers will then have the ability to test their new skills each day with more challenging dishes throughout the week. Sample menu: omelets, flatbread pizzas, and better burgers. This is a very popular camp – it fills up fast! Do you dream of cookies, cakes, and pies? In this fun baking class, you will practice math, science, and more. The menu will include fruit pies, quick breads, cookies, and muffins, just to name a few items. Your family will love the results! Parents and family members are welcome to stop by on the last day to sample the confections made in camp. Emphasis is placed on local, in-season foods at the peak of vitality and freshness. A sampling of the items on the menu includes homemade fruit leather, orange power bars, green-machine smoothies and chocolate quinoa cupcakes. Instructor: Edible Education staff Grades: 1 – 5 Date/Time: July 15 – 19; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: $250 URBAN HOMESTEADING Step into a time machine and visit an era that will introduce you to old world skills and new experiences. At Urban Homesteading camp, students will be immersed in the basics: gardening, baking, working with wood and fiber, candle and soap making, learning about healing plants and honeybees, natural skin care, and much more. In addition to learning about homesteading skills of yesteryear, they will also take home handmade items, including an original fiber arts creation. Campers will learn about conservation and gain a new appreciation for natural sustainable techniques to promote healthier living and a healthier planet.
