beheld Elijah being carried

fire , and h e wo u ld n o t h a v e
received Elijah’s anoint-
ing. Imagine if Naomi had
never mentored Ruth and
told her just what to do to
get her Boaz. Ruth would
have never been named in
th e linea g e o f J e s u s Ch ris t .
Imagin e if E liz a b e t h d id n o t
take Mary in and minister
to her during the first few
mo n ths t h a t s h e c a rrie d t h e
Christ child. Perhaps Mary
could have become over-
whelmed by the negativity
that she experienced from
those who doubted her claim
of immaculate conception.
All of these examples
point to the importance
that older believers have
in shaping and influencing
t h e liv e s o f y o u n g e r b e l i e v -
e r s . Yo u n g C h r i s t i a n s a r e
in need of Godly examples
amongst our older broth-
e rs a n d s is t e rs . We ne e d t o
learn from your mistakes,
your disappointments, your
victories, and the miracles
t h a t G o d h a s b ro u g h t f o r t h .
M a n y o f y o u c a n s a y, a s
the Psalmist said, I was
young and now I am old, yet
I have never seen the righ-
t e o u s f o rs a k e n o r t h ei r c h i l -
dren begging bread” (Psalms
