Faculty Present Their Research Results at IBSC Conference

Catherine Milligan and Flor Berman presented the findings from their action research projects at the International Boys Schools Coalition conference in Dallas , Texas in late June . Each year , the conference brings together more than 600 educators from around the world to champion boys ’ education . Art History Teacher Ms . Milligan investigated Bolstering Boys ’ Engagement in Grade Eight Art History Through Video Feedback . She found that providing feedback on boys ’ work via video increased her students ’ engagement , with the boys noting its “ personal ,” “ conversational ,” and “ helpful ” nature . Spanish Teacher Ms . Berman focused on Challenging Perspectives and Building L2 Proficiency with Drones and Digital Visual Representations for second grade boys . She discovered that drone use supported proficiency in learning Spanish language through greater engagement ; collaborating with a partner using Drive DVR led to growth in proficiency , and sharing and understanding others ’ perspectives of aerial views challenged individual boys ’ perspectives . Jamie MacNeille , Saint David ’ s Director of Teaching and Learning , and Spanish and Homeroom Teacher Saybel Pipitone also attended the conference . Mrs . Pipitone has been awarded an IBSC grant for original research that she will conduct this upcoming academic year .
