Alameda County District 4 Supervisor Nate Miley offered well-deserved praise for the project . “ The Cherryland Community Center Project proves that even with unforeseen challenges , it is possible for large-scale projects to meet the County ’ s equity , inclusion and sustainability goals and we want to see a lot more outcomes like these . Thank you to the community , the Cherryland Community Association and the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District for their partnership in making this project a reality .”
After successfully steering the Project to completion , GSA ’ s Monty Boyd thought to reignite the community ’ s enthusiasm for the Center by allowing members of the public to help place some of the last parking lot pavers . “ Considering all the project delays they ’ d witnessed , I wasn ’ t sure what the response would be ,” he shares , “ but I was thrilled to see how many people showed up to participate . They stayed long after the paving ceremony was over – walking around to admire the Center ’ s various features , expressing eagerness to use the inside facilities and showing real pride in their new Community Center . This makes the hard work that everyone has put in all the more worthwhile .”
The Cherryland Community Center will formally open to the public this summer . To keep updated , visit the GSA ’ s new website or join the Cherryland Community Association ’ s LinkedIn page . View and download the LEED Gold Certificate that the Center earned .
