Creating music anywhere
A challenge in music production is the proximity issue. You are expected to be active in a central geographic music scene to succeed. This creates a challenge for musicians living in remote areas. However, digital technologies often reduce the importance of distance. Using a Digital Audio Workstation( DAW), conferencing tools like Zoom, and cloud services for storing and sharing files make music production possible worldwide, even from our region.
Beyond Borders
Online sessions differ from in-studio sessions and influence the creative process in music production. This case study, along with another project, has explored creative work done online. The findings provide lessons on innovation using advanced technologies. For example, online creation and production require different creative skills. The result offers a basis for conceptualizing additional technological support to improve skills.
