Regional simulation tested Water, Sanitation
and Hygiene Promotion (WaSH) capacities
ligned with the capacity
strengthening pillar of the WaSH Hub in Central America, 32 representatives from the Red Cross National Societies in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina, participated in an advanced training on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WaSH). The course was held in early 2024, in Yojoa lake, Honduras. The theoretical
and practical methodology included the use of WaSH Emergency Response Teams (ERUs).
As a key element of the training, a simulation was carried out to put into practice the knowledge acquired, the different leaderships represented and the multi-country experiences. This type of experience allows the assessment of collaboration opportunities between National Societies ahead of potencial emergencies. Considering that actions focused on the WaSH sector are included in several Early Action Plans in the region, having specialized teams in this area will strengthen the humanitarian interventions.
