he Training of
Trainers (ToT) for
the Anticipatory Action Promoters' course was held at regional level, for the first time, in 2022 with the participation of four representatives from the Ecuadorian Red Cross. In its commitment to continue strengthening capacities
for the preparedness of anticipation mechanisms in Ecuador, a ToT was held in April 2024 with the participation of 24 representatives from different Provincial Boards of the Ecuadorian Red Cross, as
well as representatives from the Italian Red Cross and German Red Cross. Being a pioneer National Society on Anticipatory Action ahead of geophysical hazards, along with two Early Action Plan activations (volcanic ashfall and extreme rains associated with the El Niño Phenomenon), the training had several elements that enriched the learning experience for the participants.
At the end of the theorical and practical modules, a simulation was carried out to offer a scope of what happens at the moment of an activation. During the next months, the participants facilitated replications of the course in their localities, finally reaching more than 225 Anticipatory Action promoters nationwide.

Participating in the ToT helped us better understand our role in the National Society's Anticipatory Action
initiatives.
