First Edition of the Mapping Course closes

he closing of the first

official edition of the Mapping Course using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools was held in San José, Costa Rica; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Granada, Nicaragua and Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with the participation of 25 people.

The course began on November 5 in a semi-virtual and self-directed format with both asynchronous and synchronous sessions with

the support of the facilitators' team: Fernanda Ayala (volunteer, Ecuadorian Red Cross), Mariano Alfonsi (Argentine Red Cross) and Klaus Wiese (German Red Cross).

The total duration of the Mapping course is of approximately 30 hours, including interactive modules about data collection, risk and vulnerability assessment tools, introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), intervention maps, and practical exercises.
