CAPITOL HILL
State of the Retail Market
SUPPLY
Capitol Hill’s 195 storefronts, 45% of which are dining, are largely confined to the
Eastern Market area, which serves as a bridge between the Hill and the residential
neighborhoods to the east. As new retailers open along Pennsylvania and increase foot
traffic, especially along the southeast portion in new developments such as Emilie’s and
Frager’s Hardware opening at 1101 Pennsylvania, the retail market will enjoy increased
connectivity from Eastern Market to Barracks Row to Hill East.
