12 TECHNICAL BRIEF
The wide track , quick steering ratio , low centre of gravity and high ground clearance combine to create an authentic SUV with surprisingly sharp handling and dynamic response .
In driving the new model , these handling characteristics and the generous glass area give the driver an unsurpassed feeling of control and confidence . For the serious driving enthusiast out there , nothing replaces this kind of feeling . But every driver , regardless of his or her level of enthusiasm for the task at hand , will come to appreciate an SUV that responds quickly , especially in times of need .
Speaking of response , there ’ s the proven 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated SUBARU BOXER 4-cylinder engine . No , it ’ s not the same engine as under the hood of the very first Forester — it ’ s not even the same type of design . A lot has happened over the past three decades , but the two engines share a common trait ; that familiar growl that only comes from a horizontally opposed configuration .
In the case of the new SUBARU BOXER , direct injection has been incorporated to create more horsepower and torque , as well as increased driveability and fuel efficiency . The engine develops 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque from just 3,700 rpm . The only transmission available is the silky smooth Lineartronic ® CVT .
Currently , there are five trim levels to choose from and all five feature a version of the SI-DRIVE ® engine management system . The Intelligent ( I ) mode is standard across the board , the Sport ( S ) mode is available and the more performance-oriented Sport Sharp ( S #) mode is offered only on the Forester Sport .
Of course , all versions also feature the formidable Subaru Symmetrical
Full-Time AWD system as standard equipment , as well as X-MODE ® with Hill Descent Control . These systems work in harmony to deliver predictable and sure-footed handling , even in the trickiest of conditions . All trim levels including the Forester Sport and above feature dual-function X-MODE and its advanced settings for snow / dirt and deep snow / mud .
In addition to all the mechanical upgrades incorporated into the sixthgeneration Forester , the passenger cabin has been completely redesigned and there are more advanced safety features than ever .
Inside the cabin , there ' s more elbow room for front-seat passengers and more legroom in the back . All trim levels feature standard heated front seats with a wide coverage area to provide more warmth . Also standard on all trim levels , the fourth-generation version of award-winning EyeSight ® Driver-Assist Technology is more

effective than ever . The system now incorporates a wide-angle mono camera and improved recognition software to help drivers better detect obstacles or potential danger in the road ahead . Advanced safety features include Automatic Emergency Steering , Emergency Stop Assist , Pre-Collision Braking and Pre-Collision Throttle Management .
The Subaru Forester has been an automotive icon right from the moment it first debuted nearly 30 years ago . The 2025 Subaru Forester , the sixth generation of this ultra-popular compact SUV , is a strong addition to the lineup . It ’ s an incredibly nimble vehicle that proves its worth in all conditions , but truly shines when conditions are at their absolute worst . This makes the all-new Forester even more perfect for families who crave adventure , but appreciate comfort , convenience and refinement all the same .
