HYBRID SYSTEM 39 in EV drive mode.
When the EV drive mode switch is pressed again, the vehicle returns to the hybrid system driving mode( running the vehicle using the engine and the electric motor).
NOTE
. In the following cases, the system may not switch the driving mode to EV drive mode. When the system does not switch to EV drive mode, a beep sounds and a warning message is displayed on the combination meter display.
– The temperature of the hybrid system is high because the vehicle has been left in the sun, driven on a
hill, driven at high speeds, etc. – The temperature of the hybrid
system is low. – The engine is warming up. – The high voltage battery power
icon displayed on the energy flow
screen is low. – The vehicle speed is high. – Additional power is needed temporarily, for example when the accelerator pedal is depressed firmly or when the vehicle accelerates suddenly. – The defroster button is pressed. – The climate control system is in
operation. – The EyeSight function is activated.
. If you start the hybrid system when the engine is cold, the system will automatically start warming up the engine, and it will not be possible to switch to EV drive mode. After the hybrid system starts operating and the hybrid READY indicator light illuminates, press the EV drive mode switch before the engine starts.
. In the following cases, while you are driving the vehicle in hybrid mode, the system may automatically switch to hybrid system driving( running the vehicle using the engine and the electric motor). This occurs when the EV drive mode is canceled. The EV drive mode indicator will then flash and turn off. A message will then be displayed on the combination meter display.
– The power of the traction battery displayed on the Energy flow
screen is low. – The vehicle speed is high. – Additional power is needed temporarily, such as when you depress the accelerator pedal firmly or when the vehicle accelerates suddenly.

When driving with the gasoline engine stopped, a sound which changes in volume in accordance with the driving speed will sound in order to warn people nearby of the vehicle’ s approach. The sound will stop when the vehicle speed exceeds approximately 22 mph( 36 km / h).
The sound is produced continuously by the system while the vehicle is reversing.
NOTE
. The pedestrian alert system warning indicator light blinks when a malfunction occurs in the pedestrian alert system. Contact a SUBARU dealer for an inspection. Refer to“ Pedestrian Alert System Warning Indicator Light” FP201.
. In the following cases, the pedestrian alert system may be difficult for surrounding people to hear.
– In very noisy areas – In the wind or the rain
Also, as the pedestrian alert system is installed on the front of the vehicle, it may be more difficult to hear from the rear of the vehicle.
