Build the future of your business
Degree apprenticeships are an inexpensive way for your organisation to attract and retain talented employees , develop your workforce , fill skills gaps and improve your company ’ s performance . They ’ re suitable for all sizes of organisations , from small businesses to multinational corporations .
Apprentices come to university to learn skills they can apply straight away to their jobs . When they complete their apprenticeship , they ’ ll have a full undergraduate or Master ’ s degree . They ’ ll study one day each week or fortnight on day release or do block release , which involves an intensive four-day week , three times a year . And , they ’ ll have access to our virtual learning environment , so they can study independently .

Where your employees will study
Students undertaking degree apprenticeships typically attend university for lectures and practical sessions one day a week for between one and five years , depending on the course . Students can also undertake training in the workplace during their normal working hours . If training takes place outside of working hours , you will owe your employee time off in lieu ( TOIL ). The employer and the University of Portsmouth are equally responsible for ensuring students take part in off-the-job training during their degree apprenticeship .

Most degree apprenticeship salaries start at £ 12,000 –£ 18,000 a year . This is set by the employer , but apprentices must earn the minimum wage . Existing employees usually stay on their current salaries when they do a degree apprenticeship .
