H
ello! Trust your July was
awesome? Mine was. I
c o n t i n u e d o n m y g re a t
adventure and discovered more
about the people I refer to as TRUE
DREAMERS. By TRUE DREAMERS, I
mean those people who not only
dream but actually achieve their
dreams. Let me share some of my
discoveries.
THEY AREN'T THE MOST
TALENTED! Unbelievable but true.
These high flyers are often not the
best in class in high school or
University. Some of them were
actually considered dullards or slow!
My namesake Albert Einstein is a
good example. He was labeled dull,
dyslexic and dim-witted by his
teachers, yet turned out to be the
genius of his generation. So if you've
been labeled, don't give up on
yourself…surprise us all!
THEY HIRE THE MOST TALENTED!
This is even more ridiculous, but
again true. Mr Shobanjo of Insight
Communications, arguably the
leading advertising agency in all of
Africa is not a University graduate
but he hires PHD holders. Oh, and
don't forget Bill Gates. The learning
here? You don't have to know
everything to succeed, find someone
who does. Whether its finance,
academics, health or creativity, get
the support you need to achieve your
goals.
THEY FIND OPPORTUNITIES IN
CHALLENGES: While the talented
and intellectuals are busy
complaining about the challenges in
Nigeria and Africa as a whole, people
from other countries are coming and
taking advantage of the challenges
to make great gain. Poor
communication..MTN. No Retail
stores…Shoprite. No available retail
fashion…Mr Price. Hunger and low
food production…enter the Chinese.
Dare I continue? In the greatest
challenges are the greatest
opportunities. Perhaps it's time to
take another look around you and
begin to see things differently.
THEY KEEP WORKING IT: I just can't
get over this one. The True Dreamers
don't give up easy. They fail more
than most people but they just don't
stop! The inventor of the first
commercially viable Light Bulb,
Thomas Edison, tried over 1000
materials before finding the right
one to achieve his goal.
I will sign out this month with these
great words from him…
“Many of life's failures are people
who did not realize how close they
were to success when they gave up.”
