New Student Organization Process
1 Think of an idea for a new student organization. Search the groups listing in Cougar Connect to ensure you are not duplicating the mission of another
2 existing group Establish at least two( 2) officers for the organization and obtain their contact information. Officers must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 * GPA and maintain a minimum of six( 6)* credit hours each Fall and Spring semester.
3 At a minimum, each organization must maintain a President and a Treasurer as officer positions. Recruit at least five( 5) members who meet the minimum standards listed below( including officers). Collect their names and email addresses. A“ Member” is a student who maintains a minimum standard enrollment of( 1)* credit hour at Collin
4 College and maintains a minimum cumulative 2.0 * GPA at the time of engagement All student organizations must be represented at the Student Government Association( SGA) monthly meetings. This person can be any organization member, but can only represent one organization
Note during the SGA monthly meetings. Select a full-time Collin College faculty member or staff member to serve as the primary advisor. Advisors must get approval from their supervisor / dean before beginning their involvement.
5( Student Engagement can assist with this if needed) Complete the Prospective Organization Form on Cougar Connect.
6 A member of the Student Engagement Office will reach out to you. Once your Prospective Form is approved, you may complete the New Student Organization Form.
7 We will set up a New Student Organization Training with the officers and advisor present.

** If membership requirements listed in the governing documents for academic organizations exceed the basic requirements listed above, the organization will follow the requirements detailed in their governing documents unless they violate Collin College ' s policies and procedures.
*** The Office of Student Engagement must approve any exceptions to these guidelines in advance.***
