sound of the blaring music and uncontrollable laughter. Zoe’ s parents were out of town for the night, so naturally she had invited her friends Angela and Maddie over. They all laid in her room, enjoying each other ' s presence and talking about what was on their mind.
“ Hey Zoe! Have you seen my other CD?” asked Maddie. Zoe looked around the room and shook her head.
“ Sorry! Don’ t see it.” Zoe replied. Just as she finished her sentence, the lights flickered, then went black. They all screamed in terror, then burst out laughing.
“ Probably just a fuse.” Zoe chuckled,“ I’ ll go get some flashlights. I think that there are some candles around the house that need to be lit.”
“ I’ ll do it!” smiled Angela, and she left to get some matches. They all walked out of the room. That’ s why none of them saw the fanged, sly smile that lied abandoned under the bed next to a lost CD. It chuckled a sinister laugh, then evaporated into the surrounding air.
Angela walked into the pitch black bathroom. She struck a match, and lit the tiny candle next to the sink. She was about to blow the match out, when something caught her eye. Just out of where the light of the match could reach she had seen something move. She turned back to face the mirror. That is when she saw him. A long black figure standing soundlessly in the shadows, with his blood red eyes focused directly on her. She began to scream but the creature had her mouth covered before she could.
“ No no,” he whispered in a cool voice that sent shivers Angela’ s spine. He removed his hand from her mouth, but she was too petrified to scream for help. He looked at what was left of the match in her hand.
“ Too bright,” he said, and in one breath blew out both the match and the candle. Her final scream echoed through the house. It was cut short by a loud thud. Then silence.
“ Angela?” whispered Maddie. She had heard the dreadful noise and immediately began her journey to the bathroom. She’ s probably going to jump out and scare me any second now, thought Maddie. Maddie was not a person who liked being pranked. She put on a bored expression, so that when Angela jumped out it would look like she wasn’ t amused. She couldn’ t see anything in the dark hallway. Suddenly she heard the thumping of feet behind her. She spun around.
“ Angela?” she said in a shaking voice,“ It’ s not funny Angela. I’ m not scared of you.”
