defined as mother, father, siblings, grandparents, stepparents or legal guardian. 4. Absences mandated by governmental agencies( court order, etc). 5. Recognized holidays observed by the student’ s faith. 6. Conditions rendering attendance impossible or hazardous to the student’ s health or safety as determined by Cobb County School District. 7. Registering to vote or voting in a public election, which shall not exceed one day. 8. Up to a maximum of five( 5) days per school year to visit with a parent who is in military service in the armed forces on leave from an overseas deployment to a combat zone.
9. College Visits- Seniors are allowed two official college visits per academic year. To be considered an official college visit, the student must turn in documentation to the Attendance Office within three( 3) days of the absence from the college or university that includes the student’ s name and date of visit.
10. Any other absence not explicitly defined herein but deemed by the local school board of education to have merit based on circumstances.

ABSENCES( UNEXCUSED): NOTE: Using the phrase“ family emergency” or“ appointment” is not excused.
CERTIFICATE OF STUDENT ENROLLMENT: Students must obtain a Certificate of School Enrollment( form DS-1) from their school to apply for a Learner’ s Permit or Driver’ s License.
• Certificates are issued through the School Counseling Office with a 48-hour turnaround. There is a $ 2.00 processing fee.
• Students must provide a birth certificate or other government issued ID( passport, ID card) to prove age.
• The student must come in person to request the form.
EARLY DISMISSALS: For a student to be dismissed from school early, the parent / guardian or approved contact via ParentVue must come to school in person with their physical ID.
• A person on the student’ s emergency contact / check out list must show ID at the attendance office, be matched to the student, and wait for them to be called from class.
• Update your student’ s contact list for checkout purposes. The Enrolling Adult is the only person who can make these changes in ParentVue.
For a student driver to be dismissed without a parent / guardian present:
• An email, from the enrolling adult’ s email address in ParentVue, must be submitted to Kathleen Corrao at Kathleen. Corrao @ cobbk12. org, the afternoon before OR no later than 8:00am the morning of.

• Include in the body of the email: ✓ Student’ s Name ✓ Student ID # ✓ Requested time of check out ✓ Copy of Driver’ s License
