Establish the importance of the unsaturated compounds.

Ethylene: Used to obtain plastics.

Acetylene: Is the most widely used alkyne, it is a gas that when burned in the presence of pure oxygen produces a flame of about 2800⁰C and is used in welding.

Acetic acid: One of the most important unsaturated hydrocarbons capable of polymerizing giving plastics and rubbers.

Polyethylene: Highly used in pipes, for obtaining containers, bags and electrical insulation.

Propylene: It is raw material for the polypropylene used in the textile industry and for making pipes and ropes.

Isobutylene: Used to obtain tetra ethyl lead, questioned additive of naphthas.

The most important use of alkenes is as a raw material for the production of plastics.
