SMM : How did you fall in love with music.

Magalidelarosa : I fell in love with music at such a young age. Since I was little I was always singing and dancing. All my home videos include me in a diaper with a tutu running around dancing. How music started for me was through movies and music videos. I was in love with "Dirty Dancing" and movies like "Llambada" that were based on dancing and music. My sister and I always watched ''La Bamba", which was so important to us and our Latino roots. As a little girl I wanted to be like my idol Selena, and frequently was asked to perform her songs at weddings, parties, and festivals. Doing these performances really taught me at a young age to be confident and to work the crowd. Its funny that doing live interviews makes me nervous, but performing to big crowds is so easy. As you get older music is more accessible and personal. Most of my friends knew how to play and sing. That was also a huge influence.

SMM : How did you come up the song called Revival

Magalidelarosa : I was at a stand still with my music career at one point. I had left a girl group that I had been in for years, I had my daughter shortly after, and had changed. I had grown up and I also had another human being to take care of besides myself. Many people including some family thought that my career was finished. Then something wonderful happened. I was craving to write, when I stumbled across a music site that sells music tracks for independent artist, so while scrolling through the r&b section I heard the beat for a song that would become Revival. The moment I heard it I was in love. It was everything that I had been looking for in a song, and within an hour it was written. When I first sang it to my close friends and family they didn't see the potential. When I finally recorded the song I knew for me that it was very special. Since putting it out as a single, it has opened some big doors for me. I will be releasing an EP called Revival in about a

week. The EP would not have happened without the driving force and new energy that the song gave me. It is a love song, but has many meanings for me as an artist. It gave me the Revival I needed and strength to be woman, mother, artist and designer that I always knew I could be. It helped me find my way back.
