came around we knew the temperature was perfect. I
remember being at IHOP eating breakfast and I’m sitting
on the edge of the table, ready to go, because I know I
want to get out there. We got out to the track, I went
out and I made a pass by myself so I could concentrate
just on my car. The pass felt perfect. When I come around
back to the pits and the guys tell me 191 mph, it just
floored me; it was so exciting.”
McClung’s best of 191.3 mph was enough to snag the C5
Z06 half-mile world record. A new personal best and a
world record all in one pass is an incredible feat. “What’s
really cool about this car is I can take it out and run 191
mph and take it to dinner the same night. I come home,
take the parachute off, put my street tires on and drive
it on the street with no issues; it’s absolutely amazing.
Now that I’ve been as fast as I have, all my buddies are
spending loads of money just because they want to beat
my car. It’s just a fun feeling to have all of these guys
chasing you like this and trying to be as fast as you. It
makes it more fun. Heck, maybe next I’ll put some nitrous
on the car and head for 200 mph,” McClung posits.

They are all outstanding and have helped make all of
this possible. It’s awesome being a part of that group.
We are all just one happy family of friends that love to
race.”
