stronger motor. It was just like a domino effect; one thing after another.”
Just a few simple modifications turned into the start of a fun journey for McClung.“ A little while after I started messing around with the Corvette, these half-mile events started to pop up out of nowhere,” says McClung.“ Some of the guys that I hung out with started going to these events and eventually I thought it would be something cool to try. What better way to get out and safely race your street cars.”

STRONGER MOTOR.

McClung grew an interest quickly and was addicted to the speed and performance from his supercharged street car. The once-stock Z06 was now quite the powerhouse. Under the hood was a supercharged LME 427ci LSX short block with Callies 4” center counterweight billet crankshaft and Ultra Billet connecting rods, Wiseco custom forged pistons, Vengeance Racing custom hydraulic camshaft and valvetrain with Mast Motorsports 275cc Cathedral Port cylinder heads and Vengeance Racing air-to-water intercooler system and custom spec fuel system. The stock 6-speed was replaced with a Level V T56 transmission and Stage III C5 Z06 differential from RPM Transmissions and a RPS BC3 triple-disc clutch. A set of 15x10 Weld Racing RTS wheels were installed for traction in the back, and for safety a 6-point roll bar system from RPM Roll Bars and a custom Vengeance Racing parachute kit were installed.
As time went on, the desire for more power led McClung to pick up a full F2 ProCharger setup from a guy in Texas. With the new setup installed, McClung and the guys from Vengeance Racing headed out to WannaGOFAST in Indiana last October. Right from the start they knew something was wrong. The car wasn’ t building boost, but they couldn’ t find the problem.
“ We looked for boost leaks and everything and couldn’ t figure out why the car wasn’ t wanting to build boost. Then someone happened to look inside the front of the Pro- Charger and the impeller was hitting the housing,” McClung continued.“ When I saw that, I figured my day was done and it was time to put the car on the trailer and have beer. I walk away for a little bit and come back to Ron working on the car right there, with the faulty ProCharger already taken off the car. Come to find out, Ron had already arranged for someone to
bring another ProCharger, the F1X that is now on the car, up with them that night. They put the ProCharger on the next day, tuned it and I went 183 mph, faster than I had ever been before. That was something that really floored me; Ron and the Vengeance Racing team went out of their way to get the problem fixed and have me up and running. That is probably my most memorable moment. It was truly an outstanding act and one of
A month later, with just a few tuning changes, McClung took the Z06 back out to the WannaGOFAST in Sulpher Springs, Texas, to see what he could accomplish with the new changes.“ With the new modifications, the car was making about 1,200 horsepower when we made it out to WannaGOFAST this past November in Texas. I ran the car on Saturday in the heat and I hit 187 mph. The car was running amazing. All we needed was some cooler conditions. When Sunday morning
