Ready for a Home
Daniel
Male | 4 years old | Mastiff Mix
I’m Daniel, a super sweet boy that just loves people. I love to play and be with people, and
I prefer all the attention on me, so no other pets, please. I know all my basic obedience
commands and I’m smart too. I’m a good listener who is eager to please. I can be a bit of
a couch potato and enjoy the softer, finer things in life. I am still working on being a little
possessive with high value items and food because I came from a place where only the
assertive dogs got to eat. I like most other dogs, but I can’t live with one because of my
possessiveness. Same with cats, but I don’t like them anyway, so no big deal. If I am to live with
kids, they should be at least 10 and I am not suited for an apartment, condo or town home.
I’m just a big goof who doesn’t know my own strength. I would love to go for walks regularly, but I don’t need to go far.
Really, I just want to be with you whatever you are doing. Because I’m a big guy, I need an owner with dog experience.
I’m a big lug of a teddy bear and am just waiting for a family to shower all my joy onto.
Horton
Male | 1 year old | Shepard Mix
I’m Horton, a strapping young lad and at one year, I am about 60 pounds. I think it’s the ears.
I’ve had obedience training and I love showing off what I know! I am very good at following
directions. I dislike being in my crate and whine for a bit. I prefer to sleep on the floor in the
same room with my people but I must be crated when no one is home as I can get into
trouble – counter surfing, for example. I would love to live in a home with adults who have
plenty of time for me.
One thing about me, I have some scars from when I was a puppy. The ones on the outside
have healed although I have permanent wires, pins and screws in one of my front legs. The
inside scars are a different story. I was abused when I was very young because I growled when someone took my food
away. This has made me very scared when feet come around me when I am eating. Training has helped me a lot and
I’m so much better now than I used to be. My trainer and some of the shelter staff have brought me to the point that I
am now: ready for adoption! I am friendly with all people and other dogs, but I need to live in an adult home only with
no other pets. I need an owner who embraces going to classes and working obedience regularly. My trainer says if my
family works with me on keeping up my obedience training, they will have little trouble in other areas.
When I am adopted, my trainer will deliver me to my new home and spend lots of time going over my training. I’m still
very young and have not had the benefit of living in a home for very long, so my adopter should be prepared to teach
me the things I don’t know. It will take patience and that’s why I require an experienced owner, but you will laugh all the
time at how much I like to play.
I am cuddly and less excited when I am worn out, so I require lots and lots of exercise. In order to have a successful life in
a home, I will need ongoing training or classes, so if you are not into that, I’m not the dog for you. I hope I find the right
home after all this time. I’m ready and everyone says I’m worth it!
Mitch
Male | 6 years old | Orange & White DLH
Hi, I’m Mitch! I like to tell it how I see it. You might agree or disagree, so we can spend all day
chatting about it. I want to be with my people, but petting and brushing are on my terms.
Although I seem very self-assured here in the cattery among my peeps, it actually terrifies
me every time I move to a new environment for a few days. As long as I have a safe place
to get acclimated and another cat in the home to make me feel braver, everything will be
AOK. I need an adult only home, but other than that and another cat to live with, I’m a low
maintenance kind of guy! Come meet me today!
