What will we see ?
• Robust processes in place to evaluate junior student achievement
• Student progress tracked against expected individual performance ( diagnostic , previous school ) and school expectations
• Students maintain ( at least ) expected progress throughout year 9 & 10
• Equitable rates of achievement across all ethnicities and genders
• Proportional representation of Māori students in Level 1 NCEA courses
• Attendance rates exceed national averages and those of similar schools ( equity index )
• Increased rates of student engagement in the wider-life of the school
How will we make progress towards this strategic goal ?
• Improved quality of and access to year 9 entrance data
• Common junior assessment tasks implemented across the school
• Methods developed to track student progress against expected performance
• Data Analyst to work across school as Kāhui Ako Within School Teacher
• Data is accessible to all staff and used to inform teaching and learning and support of underachieving students
• Increased resourcing of the Guidance Team to improve monitoring of student progress
• Teacher PLD focused on best practice pedagogy and consistent assessment practice
• Guidance network ( House Tutor and Form Tutor ) focuses on developing the whole student
How will we measure success ?
• Analysis shows junior students achievement rates are high as a cohort and as individuals
• Students make at least one year ’ s progress in reading , writing and mathematics in year 9 and 10
• Accelerated progress observed for students identified as underperforming
• Increased levels of student involvement in extra-curricular activities
• Improved attendance rates that compare favourably with similar schools
