All about Beezie’ s Blooms Greiner and her husband, Jeff, have three children: Marigold“ Goldie,” 6; Peter, 4; and Wylder, 2.
“ When I started growing, I never thought it would turn into my career and my life. Now, it’ s the life my kids get to grow up loving. That’ s so special to me,” Greiner said.“ I’ m so grateful that I have a job I love, and that this flower field is my office.”
Flower farming isn’ t what many people picture when they think of agriculture.
“ I feel like a lot of people don’ t consider us a farm because we grow flowers,” Greiner said.
“ There’ s so much education that comes with it,” she continued.“ You need to know what nutrients they need, if they need staking, when to harvest each variety, how to handle them post-harvest, the best ways to utilize them in certain types of arrangements, and how to make bouquets. It takes a lot of experience.”
Greiner uses organic growing practices with the goal of producing as little waste as possible.
Because pollinators are essential to the farm, she also avoids using chemicals on her flowers to help preserve those populations.
Most of Beezie’ s Blooms’ flowers are currently sold wholesale through the Twin Cities Flower Exchange. Next year, however, that will change. With the flower exchange under new ownership, Greiner has decided to step away from the wholesale market and focus on selling directly to her community.
“ This is a huge change for my farm, and I think I’ ve just felt like God is calling me to be rooted in my own community and to simplify,” Greiner said.“ Summers are stressful and I feel like I’ m running a marathon every day. I want to go back to the reason I started growing in the first place.”
“ I get to bring people joy no matter where they’ re going,” she added.“ If the flowers are used in a wedding or if someone is buying flowers to share with someone else, it brings people joy. That’ s the whole point, and I’ m grateful to be part of that.” Greiner plans to spend more time sell-
