Roy turns their milk into soaps and other products, but she also breeds the animals and sells the kids to other nearby farms or children looking to show the animals in 4H.
“ People love them for pets because they’ re fun. They’ re like dogs, but they’ re untrainable,” Roy said.“ I’ ve found that a lot more people are looking into goats for homesteading and to build a small dairy herd.”
Outside of her goats, Roy has a number of bee hives that provide her with fresh honey as well as chickens. To support her pollinators, Roy created a small pollinator garden full of colorful wildflowers.
Roy also dedicates a lot of her time helping and educating others hoping to start a small goat herd, teaching them the basics.
“ Once a teacher, always a teacher. I enjoy it a lot,” Roy added.“ I enjoy meeting people and teaching them about the goats or the bees.”
Peace of Heaven Farm has also become a place open to the community, often inviting church groups, community programs through the Princeton School District and other private groups to the property to learn about farm life.
“ After the shooting at Annunciation School, we invited a group of the kids and their families to the farm because I used to teach there,” Roy said.“ Tragically,
