Stop Motion Animation Magazine | Page 6

To round things off, there is many different types of stop motion animation in all types of media mainly being modern day film and television. As I have previously mentioned Wallace and Gromit and also newer films such as “Boxtrolls” which was very popular on release and make the company lots of money due to how well made the film is this shows that stop motion is still popular even today. https://youtu.be/Q2dFVnp5K0o Some films also feature this animation but for only small parts of the film such as the Horror film “Evil Dead” which uses stop motion for some of the later scenes due to low budget and to help animated moving objects that could not move by themselves such as the following scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG7X5QPlpfc There are also many types of television shows that feature stop motion animation such as Trapdoor which is a 1980’s television show that is entirely made of stop motion animation similar to Wallace in Gromit but is a darker and stranger television show that uses stop motion to animate so weird and interesting scenes. https://youtu.be/mluYB9YfzSI While talking about television it is interesting to note that a lot of adverts recently have taken the style of stop motion animation for their advertisements this can be used to keep the viewer interested in the advert as it is something different to the common and boring live action adverts that everyone uses and instead makes them interesting through the use of adding the stop motion to give adverts more life this can be seen in the following advert for Lurpack Butter in which is styled like Wallace and Gromit from the character design and animation this is used to show and interesting point of view from the butter talking and making a memorable and funny advert. Stop motion animation can also be seen in music videos such as Radiohead- Burn the Witch uses a funny child style animation and then adds a sinister twist to it with the overall plot this can be a funny juxtaposition. It is animated like a normal children’s stop animation work body movements and sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI2oS2hoL0k And lastly stop motion animation is not restricted to just filmed related media as it can also be seen in a videogame called the “Neverhood” released in 1996 the game uses stop motion animation for the whole games animation style witch is very rare in a game as it is all normally just computerised. The game is a “Point and Click” adventure game and uses deaths that are fully animated by stop motion animation giving the game a unique twist of animation in a different genre than usual. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYvlcP1OheI
