FUNDS HELP COMMUNITY GARDEN BLOSSOM A local centre in Stone officially opened its new community garden recently. Stafford Borough Council provided £25,000 to St Dominic’s Church for a redesign and landscaping of the community centre garden. And on Sunday 4th August, it was officially opened by Father Gerard Doyle, Parish Priest of St Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Stone, along with the Mayor of Stafford Borough, Councillor Angela Loughran and the Mayor of Stone, Councillor Jill Piggot. The garden has been enlarged by incorporating an area of land which was previously fenced off and now features pathways and planting, as well as a brick bin store and beautiful pagoda. It will allow the area to host weddings and community events. Refurbishment has also been carried out at the centre alongside the landscaping scheme. October/November 2013 29
