Food and Drink Festival offers a ‘world’ of whiskies to try D oesn’t time fly, is it really a year since the last Stone Food and Drink Festival? Those of you who came on the Saturday last year, and ventured into the whisky demonstration experienced the delights of Amrut whisky from India. Many were surprised at how good this was given its age and where it had come from but in a nutshell that sums up one of the major delights of the festival – the ability to go out and try new foods and drinks. Those of you who never take water with whisky try a sample and see how the flavours and nose change with the addition of a few drops. Have a look for the different malts and try something new. If you never touch blends try some and see just how good they can be, how a skilful blend can take the rough edges off well known single malts. We have found that the tastings provide a great LAST ORDERS opportunity to meet others of similar interests and to share stories and experiences. This year will provide another opportunity to sample a wide range of drinks and spirits from around the world. Friday will see an exploration of gins, Saturday cocktails, culminating in the ‘World’s best Whiskies’ on Sunday. Whatever your interests make a note in your diary and we look forward to meeting you for another great food and drink extravaganza! Whisky expert Dave Pickard of Old School Wines, Tittensor. Speaking to Stone and Eccleshall Life local scooter enthusiast Len Hamilton said: “It is our intention to now drive forward with the club and recruit members to the new Stone Scooter Club. “There are lots of scooterists out there who have all spent time and effort building their machines not to mention the cost with their popularity as strong as ever evident in the fact the Vespa model can still be bought as new today.” Anyone interested in joining or finding out more about the club can visit the facebook page at www.facebook.com/StoneScoo terClub or contact Len on Tel. 07702 874241.
