Kids do their bit for charity
On a lovely summers day before the end of term , staff , parents , children , governors and friends of Walton Priory Middle School joined together to take part in their first Race for Life fun run to raise money for Cancer Research .
About 150 people ran or walked around the school grounds dressed in pink and fancy dress . The event was very well supported by local businesses including Florette and Delice de France . Everyone who took part received a goodie bag and a medal at the end of the race which was started by the Mayor , Mrs Jill Piggott .
Mrs Julie Freeman , race organiser , said : “ We are so proud of the way our whole community
joined together to raise money for this very worthwhile cause .”
This was not the first charity the school has shown its support to this year however . Earlier in the term pupils and staff at Walton Priory took part in a Gangnam Style Flash Mob dance to raise money for the NSPCC .
This event was organised by Miss Victoria Atherton ( Year 8 Facilitator of Learning ) who said : “ The school was absolutely buzzing with excitement , we are very proud of everyone who took part .”
Manor Hill First School also joined in the fun on the day helping to raise over £ 200 for this very good cause .
