BUSKING BONANZA
Commencing at the end of June , 20 musicians from the area gathered to play in the town centre providing some welcome entertainment for shoppers .
The weather started badly but improved as the day went on allowing the musicians to perform outside . The judging for the cash prizes up for grabs was then carried out in the upstairs room of the library .
The ages of the contestants ranged from 11 to more mature entrants with the winners announced as Hazel Eyed , a group of four school girls who sang mostly their own material , Charles Scott in second place who played the violin and Anthony and Andrew who played guitars in third place .
The organisers thanked all of the musicians for taking part and turning Eccleshall into an outdoor musical centre if only for a few hours .

Better still , one exhibit by Group Chairman Brian Freeman , was judged as Best in Show winning the coveted Marquetry Society Rose Bowl . What is even more impressive was that Brian ’ s winning picture ‘ Reflections ’ is a miniature , with a face area less than 12 square inches .
Marquetry Society President , Quentin Smith ( who is also the Secretary of the Staffordshire Group ) said : “ This is quite exceptional . A miniature has not won the Rose Bowl during my time in the Society , and I joined in 1988 ! It just goes to show the outstanding quality of Brian ’ s work .” A Staffordshire Group member has only once before won the Rose Bowl , John Jeggo in 2003 .
As well as winning the Advanced Miniature class Brian , from Tittensor , also won the Advanced Applied Class with his ‘ Dragon Box ’ and
