STONE FESTIVAL ROUNDUP
Fantastic show of community spirit
Billed as celebrating everything that is great about Stone, this year’ s Stone Festival went off with a bang as over 500 visitors got the festivities underway with the infamous Raft Race, Car Boot Sale, Dog Show and Westbridge 5!
Kicking the antics off revellers chanted their rafts on, pruned their dogs and enjoyed a look around the car boot with organisers expressing a huge thank you to all who attended what was an amazing way to start the festival off.
The fun continued with over 100 people taking part in the Annual Steeplechase and Dog Derby with the Mayor, councillor Jill Piggott officially starting the races off with the wave of an umbrella.
The competitors made their way around
Westbridge Park, down the canal path, through the brook and then down the river path and to the finish line where huge congratulations were given to all the winners- a list of which can be found by visiting the Results Page for Steeplechase and Dog Derby on the Festival website at www. stonefestival. co. uk.
In other activities the Crown Green Bowling Competition was a close fought affair at Stonefield Park where congratulations were made to defending champions, Howard and Linda Watkin Jones( Stone Crown Bowling Club) who retain their title.
