— Field officer comments from the May 2019 online survey :
‘ Seeing a great roll up ( good numbers of participants ) from a diverse
background including graziers , scientists , government agency reps , industry reps , natural resource management reps willing to come together to engage in genuine discussion about the project , and more broadly , how all key stakeholders can genuinely engage and work together to find best practice solutions to land management ... it`s also important for NRM groups to come together at events such as these ... solving sediment run-off is not a landholder issue or problem ... it`s EVERYONE`S issue - including Government ( Federal and State ).
’
‘ The project was obviously designed predominantly to respond to
existing erosion - but I think you can continue to pursue how these new grazing practices ( and mindsets ) act to prevent future erosion by improving ground cover and overall soil and vegetation health . I think this is the far more valuable and cost effective mechanism to reduce erosion from grazing lands and protect the Great Barrier Reef .

— Select grazier comments from the May 2019 online survey :
‘ That what we are doing is working and to keep plugging along having field days exchanging ideas .
’
‘ Small , effective changes across the whole landscape are a lot less risk ,
a lot more permanent and will work . Albeit in a longer time frame than politicians and scientists want . I guess the two days have reinforced the need to keep going with all we are doing , achieving a lot , by doing a little , over the all , for a very long time . Ain
’ t sexy , but it is fun and easy . ’
‘ There is a new culture developing where the graziers are starting to
be taken a little more seriously and when that starts happening we participate more , which causes more culture change and capacity building for everybody . I think NQ staff are leading the way in treating graziers with a certain degree of respect that then encourages us to participate more , which causes an upward spiral of progress .
