In Memoriam –
Georgina May Nankivell
“You Don’t Sit There – It’s Gina’s
Chair”
Who’s Gina and why not sit on that
chair I wondered?
When enquiry of other members of St
O’s sensed that Gina was a lady of
some importance in the church. “You’ll
see her at the morning Eucharist,
she’s got hats”.
I made sure that I didn’t sit on the wrong chairs.
Already I had noted whose was whose.
Time has passed and so has Gina “Rest Her Soul”.
Some brief memory jogs others probably recall with me:
Gina’s meringues – perfect and enjoyed by The Dean (now Bishop)
Delicious Maids of Honour
Bero Flour
Christmas Cakes – rich and dark!
Goddards Plate Polish for Silver
Help with Summer Clubs
Wild Bird Food - regularly given in her garden
Roger – Gina’s Handy-person
Help with Lunch Clubs
I’m sure Gina is using nothing other than Goddards to polish the halos of
those gone before.
“Please don’t touch the halo’s you’ll leave finger prints”
PS
Thanks to Peter Scholes for his words and memories.
