Gad-About Gladys – On the Road Again! I was given a wonderful surprise by James, my son and Mylene my daughter-in-law that they would be taking me to Memphis, Tennessee to visit Graceland the home and resting place of Elvis Presley. They know I have always been an Elvis fan since I was a teenager. I met them at Nashville airport. They had hired a car for our stay and we drove to the Courtyard Marriot and checked in. Once we had booked in Mylene had pre-booked a table at the Chauhen Restaurant where we had a delicious meal and lots of laughter and chatter. The next day we visited a Plantation and the first thing I saw were two beautiful horses. I love horses. It was then up to the House. We were given a guided tour round the House and told its history. The ups and downs of the families who had owned the grounds had made their money from breeding horses. One of the horses was called Bonnie Scotland. The grounds were lovely. Very little spoken of the slaves but there were some photos of them. After lunch we drove back to Nashville to the Hall of Fame and Museum where we went on a guided tour of all the Recording Studios where lots of musicians had recorded, one of them being Elvis. We were taken to the studio where Elvis had recorded, and I had my photo taken on the blue marking where he stood to sing. It was great hearing about Elvis and all that had gone in his life. He was very kind to friends, family and charities. The next day James drove us to Graceland Guest House where we stayed, and which is two minutes from Graceland. Mylene had arranged for a guided tour round Graceland which lasted two and half hours. Transport was at the Guest House and we plus another dozen people were taken over to Graceland. 25
