The Right Reverend Adam Mallane Taaso, the 6th Bishop of The Diocese
of Lesotho was consecrated on the 19th October 2008.
A priest in this diocese since
1993, Bishop Adam worked as
a self-supporting priest and
schoolteacher for over 11
years, prior to becoming the
Bishop. He attended seminary
at Lelapa la Jesu, on the
campus of the National
University of Lesotho.
He also holds a degree in
Humanities from the National
University of Lesotho.
Bishop Adam was married to Matsepo Taaso on the 17th of March 1977.
They have 4 children together, 3 boys and 1 girl. They are also the proud
grandparents of 4 grandchildren.
In 2015 six of his clergy, all of whom had been suspended by the Bishop,
accused him of corruption, misuse of church funds, dabbling in active party
politics and ill-treatment of church members.
The allegations were contained in a 480-page document presented by the
priests to the Archbishop of Cape Town and Metropolitan of the Anglican
Church in Southern Africa, the Most Reverend Thabo Makgoba.
“We accused him of embezzling church funds and highlighted transactions
he could not account for and other corrupt activities,” said Rev Khaketla.

At the time of writing, a report of the commission of enquiry has not been
published, the Bishop remains in office and a number of his clergy claim they
have not been paid for several months.
