Meet the Ambassadors 6
The Revd Elaine Garman writes: ‘I am delighted to be the SEI Ambassador
in the Diocese of Argyll and The Isles. I am currently a third year Assistant
Curate with Holy Trinity, Dunoon and St Paul’s, Rothesay and Mission
Enabler in our Diocese. Clearly then, I have
been a student who has come through the
formation programme of the SEI and indeed
the former TISEC (Theological Institute of the
Scottish Episcopal Church). I was already
studying a theology degree with the University
of Aberdeen and completed my academic
preparation with them.
SEI gave me a sense of belonging, through a
college, achieved by attendance at residential
weekends, summer school and joining with
others in the Diocese of Glasgow and
Galloway for seminars. Being part of a cohesive student body, Lay Reader
candidates and ordinands together, is an important piece of formation for
authorised ministry. It is no mean feat for it to be achieved either! The staff
and students have to create in any one year that sense of discovery,
contributing to our pilgrimage faith. Of course, there are struggles along the
way. Shared difficulties and joys are part of that journey.
