The home of John Knox echoed to the songs, chants and music of a truly “Monstrous regiment of Women” as many thousands, including your Editor, wound their increasingly weary way around the nation’s capital. Two hundred years ago, the very concept of female franchise would have been unthinkable. One hundred years ago it became a reality. A century later, it is still far from universal! 16
