Vestry notes On Tuesday 5 June 2018 the full Vestry met to discuss St Oswald’s business matters. In the absence of the Priest in Charge the Rector’s Warden, Colin Wilkie, chaired the meeting. The previous month’s minutes had been circulated in advance and were agreed with no amendments. The secretary reported on correspondence; the visiting Lay Readers and Priests until the end of June; a one-off use of the premises by McMillan Cancer Information Drop in Group on 14 June 2018 and that items for the magazine were required as this was the summer double edition. The Protection Officer advised that at the recent Synod meeting Anne Jones Diocesan Safeguarding Officer stressed the importance of vestry members being kept up to date and will be provided with training dates in due course. Emily advised that her final panel would take place 18-20 June and if all things go well she would take up her “mixed mode training programme” and placement at another church at the end of August. Please remember Emily in your prayers. Success for Emily will create several vacancies for posts of Protection Officer, chalice, reader, intercessor and Sunday School. The Treasurer circulated the balance sheets, answered questions and clarified matters for the Vestry. Discussion took place regarding the filling of the voluntary Property post. Emily read out an email and the questions therein and response to be sent. Completion of the inventory was raised - decision was to share the task when updating the form. The purchase of a new lawnmower was agreed. Date of next meetings to be confirmed. No Tuesday evenings - a Holy Huddle on Sundays after service. As there was no further business the meeting closed with the Grace. Minutes summarised by Morag McHaffie Secretary 15
