Ed Miller
Like so many others, we were greatly saddened by the passing of Ed
Miller. We regarded Ed as one of the finest human beings we have ever
known. He contributed in many fields, not least for people with disabilities.
He ‘volunteered’ to be a member of St Margaret’s Aged and Disability
Committee saying something like “I know virtually nothing about
people with disabilities but I may have some skills that could be helpful”
What an understatement! His contribution was invaluable.
The wonderful Suttor Street house in Ainslie run by Hartley Lifecare,
would not exist had it not been for Ed’s tireless efforts. He, assisted by
Annette Mathison, the facilitator for Stepping Stones at the time, persuaded
the ACT government to build this new, purpose-designed and
beautifully built house to provide a home for three ladies with special
needs. Joanne is currently one of those most fortunate ladies. His legacy
lives on.
Thank you Ed.
