From Colin and Ruth Rush

7 February 2024 Dear Brian
All I can hope is that this apology will be accepted , and you will note that I have become less efficient in my senior years . All I can say is that your invitation to attend St Margaret ’ s 60th Anniversary celebrations was received , and I noted that the date clashed with other commitments here in Wagga Wagga . Then it ‘ got lost ’ among other documents , and was only unearthed by Ruth this morning when she did a check of tasks to which I had to give attention .
I well recall how in September ’ 63 and then in February ’ 64 , Holy Cross and St Margaret ’ s went their own way , developed their own plans for the future , and then came together , surmounting Difficulties and achieving what many though to be impossible . I have not been to Hackett since 2017 when celebrations to mark the bi-centenary of the building ’ s dedication were held . At that time the two congregations were continuing their efforts to work together , and I trust that the same holds true today .
I hope your celebrations went well , inspired , re-kindled friendships and memories , and pointed to a future in which working together was prominent , a witness to what we are called to be .
If it is practical to do so , please share this apology and thoughts with your congregation / committee .
Greetings and warmest regards from Colin Rush , for Ruth and Colin Rush
