Similarly, with respect to the characters, pregenerated or otherwise that the players
will be roleplaying, the following provides a summary of the important elements:
Each class has its own distinct set of psychic talents.
No single class is entirely offensive or defensive. However, the Qi Master and Meta
Engineer have Talents that tend toward defense, the Energy Adept and Reaper have ones
that tend toward offense, and the Shadow Weaver and NecroMech have a mix that can be
characterized more as utilitarian. Any class, through Talent choice, can become
whatever they want...
Each character has Mental, Physical, and Situational attributes.
Force Majeure is a Situational attribute that impacts the game changing use of
Insight points.
Insight points are gained from roleplaying a characters Motivation, i.e. what
makes them tick, and Morality, their inherent value system of right and wrong.
Characters take Actions, using Skills, with a Success Chance%, that have
quantifiable Outcomes.
One such Outcome is causing Damage, the loss of Health Points from the human
maximum of 100.
This often requires Equipment which along with Clothing defines a characters
Style.
Or Psychic Talents powered from the 50 Life Energy points that Rank 1 Psycrafters
start with.
Successful Skill use increases Skill Points and improves proficiency which in turn
increases the chance of success.
Successful Talent use increases Psychic Points and raises Rank.
This is the Action in the Action Practice and Training, or APTitude, System.
Along the way you will interact with Organizations and potentially earning
positive or negative Reputation which come with advantages and disadvantages.
The GM tracks Reputation until the end of the Adventure.
No one is playing a NecroMech, so we won’t be going into grafting, or Stitching as
it is known, and Necrotic Energy quite yet.
We will be working our way through how Encounters play out as we go...
But be wary of trying too difficult an Action as a Disastrous Failure could be
catastrophic in the wrong situation.
