Formal Fantasy adds the personal touch for those once-in-a-lifetime events
Stacia Smith has a knack for helping Stillwater residents look their best at any formal or everyday event. She shared with the News Press what Formal Fantasy offers and how they keep their customers happy – along with some of her favorite memories of serving the community.
SWO: How long have you been serving the Stillwater community at Formal Fantasy? SS / FF: I started Formal Fantasy in 1998, so this September will be 27 years.
SWO: Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to open your store.
SS / FF: My inspiration for all of this is to make my clients look and feel their best, both at special events and every day. After I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B. S. in Apparel Design, I worked for a couple of clothing companies as a pattern grader.( Changing their size, not giving them a B-plus.)
When that didn’ t work out, I started Formal Fantasy as a way to serve this area creating custom clothing and providing clothing alterations and tuxedo rentals out of my home. I outgrew the home-based business when I started offering in-stock merchandise, so I moved to Rosewood Hills shopping center in 2003 and got my first employee.
