ADULT DAY CENTER

Restoring quality of life one person at a time

The Adult Day Center started as a community vision for people over 60 who might be disabled, recovering from a surgery or trauma or isolated and lonely.

Space for the center was donated by the First Christian Church in Stillwater. Following the appointment of a voluntary Board of Directors and the hiring of staff, the LIFE Center opened on Feb. 15, 1983, and provided services two days a week. The program expanded to five days a week in September that same year. In 1992, the center became licensed through the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The Adult Day Center is still housed in the LIFE Center at First Christian Church and offers services to older adults who have disabilities or conditions which prevent them from being independent, require some assistance in meeting various health care needs, or who seek to improve or maintain their level of independence. Individuals with physical disabilities, cognitive or intellectual difficulties, emotional or mental health issues or are isolated and would benefit from socialization and companionship are who the Adult Day Center is perfect for. While the majority of participants are over the age of 60, the center welcomes younger adults who are dealing with the loss of independence
