Legacy Village has a kitchen and service staff providing restaurant-style fresh meals with a variety of menu items. The residents there also like a good party.
SEVERAL GROUPS AND CLUBS HAVE BEEN FORMED OVER THE YEARS. THERE’ S A MEN’ S POKER CLUB, RUMMIKUB AND MAHJONG GROUPS, AND CARD GAMES GALORE. THERE ARE BIBLE STUDIES, A LIBRARY WITH A BOOK CLUB, EXERCISE GROUPS AND CLASSES, YOGA, AND A SOCIAL CLUB. SURELY THERE’ S A GARDEN CLUB!?
be. And speaking of OSU, there are three former OSU cheerleaders who live at Legacy. Two of them cheered in 1954, back when the university was Oklahoma A & M.
Several groups and clubs have been formed over the years. There’ s a men’ s Poker club, Rummikub and Mahjong groups, and card games galore. There are Bible studies, a library with a book club, exercise groups and classes, Yoga, and a social club. Surely there’ s a garden club!?“ It’ s been fun watching new friendships form amongst the residents throughout all seasons of life.” Kristi said.
Most of the people I spoke with referred to each other as“ family” and have made meaningful connections with many others.
Did you think that was all? The holidays are always a good time as well. They host Halloween parties with trick-or-treating, and had over 300 kids this past year. Legacy Village also goes all out for Christmas, Mardi Gras, and everything in between. They celebrate milestone birthdays, have Senior Proms, and themed-plated dinners. They’ ve hosted their own galas and award events. There is always something to celebrate amongst the 210 residents.
At a time in people’ s lives that can seem scary and lonely, retirement has never looked so good! There is always entertainment or someone to talk to at Legacy Village. And after the game or a meal in the dining room, you simply return to your own space, put your feet up and let them do the rest. Kristi referred to Legacy Village as a luxury cruise ship that stays put. In the famous words of advertising executives Bill, Phil, Gil, and Jill from“ Muppets Take Manhattan”....“ It’ s just like taking an ocean cruise except there’ s no boat and you don’ t actually go anywhere!”
