THERE IS NEVER A DULL MOMENT AT LEGACY. WHETHER YOU’ RE INTO MUSIC, MOVIES, OR ART, THERE IS LITERALLY SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. A NEWER RESIDENT HAS ESTABLISHED AN ART STUDIO WHERE PEOPLE CAN LEARN TO WATERCOLOR AND MAKE GIFTS.
Legacy Village Executive Director Kristi Lester
When the executive director’ s position opened up at Legacy Village, their current sales and marketing director decided last minute to take the leap and apply. Kristi Lester is Legacy’ s longest employee, having been with them since before the doors officially opened in 2019.
She was the only employee or applicant who had an Administrator’ s License at Legacy Village, making her the top choice. Kristi has a vested interest in the future of Legacy, its community, and the employees.
“ I really want to focus on branding a culture of growth where people love to work and live,” she said.
Legacy Village of Stillwater is a senior living and retirement community in Stillwater, offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care with a focus on personalized support and an engaging lifestyle. The community features various living options, including apartments and villas, and offers services like medication management, therapy, and transportation.
With amenities like restaurant style dining, landscaping, cleaning and laundry services, maintenance, and an extensive activity calendar, it’ s no wonder so many people have embraced this lifestyle change. Being that you only need to be 55 years old to be eligible to live out at Legacy, I only have four more years until I can move in!
As the preferred senior living community of OSU alumni, these“ seasoned citizens” can enjoy their lives in their own private homes without the headache and struggles that come with homeownership like property taxes, utilities, and lawn maintenance. Legacy Village offers all-inclusive care packages with different levels of pricing. My grandfather lived in their memory care wing, so we were able to get familiar with life at Legacy.
Oftentimes, people don’ t want to leave their homes because they do not want to leave their pets behind. Fortunately Legacy Village welcomes everyone’ s furry friends. I’ ve met several cats and dogs during my visits. Pete’ s Pet Posse dog therapy program and Turning Point Ranch are frequent visitors. Both organizations bring their four-legged friends out for community snuggles. The Stillwater Humane Society has also hosted adoption events at Legacy.
There is never a dull moment at Legacy. Whether you’ re into music, movies, or art, there is literally something for everyone. A newer resident has established an art studio where people can learn to watercolor and make gifts. Live music is provided throughout the week from local musicians, pianists, and church worship teams. Game day watch parties for OSU Athletics and the OKC Thunder are a must, and happen in the theater located on the first floor. When there isn’ t a ballgame on, the theater is used to show movies every evening.
Sharon Brown created a butterfly garden in one of the patio areas on the grounds. When weather permits, she is in the garden planting, watering, and pulling weeds. Residents have helped her plant greenery and flowers.“ I never dreamed I’ d live somewhere like this,” Sharon said. She also implemented a“ Kudos” board for giving compliments and shout-outs to staff and employees for a job well done! I’ d like to give a big Kudos to Sharon for creating such a beautiful and peaceful space. My mom and I attended a garden party and got to experience the butterfly garden firsthand.
Residents at Legacy Village have also established a scholarship fund for employees. There is a“ no tipping” policy for servers and kitchen staff, so some of the gals decided to create this fund to help offset the cost of continuing education. Many residents are retired OSU faculty, several with PhDs, so they know how important education can
