New academy providers named
The government has confirmed
the names of the organisations
which will sponsor five soon-to-be-built
new academies in Croydon.
This follows the recent award of
grants several major grants to help pay
for the borough’s new school building
projects, which means Croydon is
receiving more money than any other
education authority in the country.
It has been known for some time
the new secondary school at the
arena in South Norwood will be run by
Oasis Community Learning and the
Haling Road primary school will be run
by Harris Federation.
The new announcement means
Oasis will now also take on the Segas
House project on Wellesley Road.
Other organisations confirmed are the
Glyn Learning Federation which will run
the Westway primary school off St
James’ Road in Broad Green and STEP
Academy Trust which will be
responsible for the primary school
adjacent to Spices Yard in South
Croydon.
In total these schools will provide
hundreds of new places to help
Croydon meet the demands of its
rapidly-growing school-age
population.
