Stephanie’s Inspiration for Twilight

Samarah Puttick

The Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer has been loved by teenagers everywhere; but many people have wondered how Stephanie came to write this amazing fantasy novel.

It all started on June, 2, 2003 when Stephanie Meyer had a dream about two people in a meadow. They were talking about how they were falling in love and how the man said it was very difficult for him to stay near her without killing her. Stephanie woke up and instantly ran to her computer where she began to type the meadow scene. From then on she was constantly writing and falling in love with her unknown characters.

Soon she realized that her characters needed a name. The man was easy; she wanted something that was romantic and out of date. She went on Google and looked for a name she found a lot of name s and she tried them. They didn’t fit. Just as she was about to give up she found a name that was perfect; Edward. Now she needed a name for her girl. For days she looked at names and every one she tried didn’t fit. Then she thought of a name that was perfect, one that she was saving for her next daughter that was never going to come, Isabella. She took the “Isa” out of Isabella and her character became Bella.

Her sister was the only one who knew what was really going on at her house. No one else knew she was writing a story. Stephanie’s sister told her that she should get her book published. So she looked into it. She found many people and sent a copy of her book to all of them all of them rejected except one. She decided to meet up with the person who didn’t reject her and before long they were working on getting her published.

Finally on October, 5, 2005 she published her first book. The story, Twilight has been a teen favorite ever since.
