You really didn’t think Warner Bros Studios. would let the Harry Potter cash cow go out to pasture, did you? Of course not, so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that the studio recently announced that it was planning a movie trilogy based around J.K. Rowling’s spinoff novel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Now, according to Collider, Warner Bros has made a commitment to a November 18, 2016 release date for the first movie in the planned trilogy.
While the book takes place in the Potter universe, it doesn’t feature any of the iconic characters from the series. Instead, the book is actually set up as a fictional textbook from Potter’s world, written by the enigmatic Newt Scamander. Rowling is writing the screenplay for the film, but no director has yet been hired.

Frak yes! Battlestar Galactica is in the works. Variety reports that Universal is developing a movie version as a "complete reimagining" of the science fiction franchise, (alarm bells)
“Transcendence” writer Jack Paglen has signed on to write the screenplay. Paglen has also committed to Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” sequel for Fox that will start production this fall. Original series creator Glen Larson will produce the “Battlestar Galactica” film. In 2009, speculation emerged that Bryan Singer was attached to direct a “Battlestar Galactica” movie. Universal’s exec VP of production Scott Bernstein and director of development Jay Polidoro are overseeing the latest version of “Battlestar Galactica” for the studio." (Variety)
The 2003 Battlestar Galactica ran for 4 seasons, and it generally received positive reviews. No word yet about the film's story, but I hope that they will stay true to the show. It may even evolve around Blood & Chrome.
