A top feeding powder hopper and bi-directional powder recoating features are said to help reduce the dosing time by up to 30 %, streamlining the powder layering process to facilitate ‘ substantial time savings .’
NAS expansion in Carroll County
Installation of the inner and outer parts of steel structures of the passive heat removal system ( PHRS ) deflector at unit 2 of the Rooppur nuclear power plant under construction in Bangladesh was completed in two days according to ASE JSC ( part of Rosatom ). Following installation of the inner and outer parts of the deflector in the design position at elevation 64.5 metres , the height of reactor building reached 74.85 metres . In terms of design , the deflector is a metal cylinder made of stainless steel , with the weight of 215 tonnes and the diameter about 25.5 metres . The Rooppur plant is being built by Rosatom on the eastern bank of the Ganges River in Bangladesh ’ s Pabna district , about 160 km northwest of Dhaka . The plant ’ s design life is 60 years with the possibility of extending its operating life for another 20 years .
Eplus3D launches EP-M400S metal AM
Eplus3D has introduced its EP-M400S metal additive manufacturing , with multiple laser configurations available to users . The EP-M00S provides users with the option of one , two , three or four lasers with multiple power levels of 500W , 700W and 1KW for each laser . The machine also offers a 400 × 400 × 450 mm build volume , a spot size of between 70 and 120 µ m , the ability to produce layer thicknesses between 20 and 120 µ m , and a maximum scan speed of 8 m / s . It is also compatible with Eplus3D ’ s Titanium
North American Stainless ( NAS ) celebrated the one-year mark since the company announced a USD 244M expansion at its Carroll County facility , a project creating 70 full-time jobs . The expansion to the company ’ s 4.4 million-square-foot Ghent facility consists of a new cold rolling mill , new roll grinders , extensive upgrades of anneal and pickling lines to support the new rolling mill , a new temper mill and the expansion of the melt shop building . The expansion presents NAS with the opportunity to counter subsidized imports . The project also increases NAS ’ annual total production capacity . The building foundation construction is underway for the melt shop and excavation for the cold rolling mill foundations is underway . Site preparation for the skin pass mill has also been completed . NAS offers a full range of stainless flat including slabs , billets , plate , sheet and strip , as well as long products including wire , rods , angles and rebar . All of NAS ’ production lines are located at one site , which allows the company to avoid inherent delays that are common in mills .
